What we collect
Petlore is a record of your pets’ lives and health. It keeps what you put into it, and a small amount of information needed to run the app.
- Your account: your email address and, if you give one, your name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the account identifier and the email address that service shares with us.
- Your pets: name, species, breed, sex, whether they are neutered, coat colour, birthday, the day they came home, microchip number, allergies, and a photo. Everything except the name and species is optional.
- Your records: the notes you type, the voice notes you record, the photos and short videos you add, and the details filed from them, such as weights, vaccines, medication, vet visits, symptoms and the dates something is next due.
- Reminders: your reminder settings and, if you allow notifications, the device token Apple issues so a reminder can reach your phone, together with your time zone and app language so it arrives at the right hour and in the right language.
- Subscription: whether you have Petlore Pro and when it renews or ends. Apple handles the payment. We never see your card details.
- Technical information: device type, operating system version, app version, and the IP address of a request, used to keep the service running and to limit abuse such as repeated sign-in codes. Petlore also records a few product events, for example that the Pro screen was opened, against a random identifier created on your device.
What we do not collect
- Your location. Petlore does not ask for it.
- Your contacts, calendar or health data.
- The advertising identifier of your device. Petlore contains no advertising software.
- Your photo library as a whole. Petlore receives only the photos and videos you pick or take inside the app.
How we use it
- To show you your pets’ records on your devices and keep them in step.
- To turn what you say, type or photograph into records, if you have agreed to AI filing, as described in the next section.
- To send the care reminders you have switched on.
- To produce the vet view, and its PDF if you have Petlore Pro, when you ask for it.
- To sign you in, apply your subscription, answer you when you write to us, and find and fix faults.
We do not use your records for advertising and we do not build an advertising profile of you.
How AI is used
Petlore uses AI so that you can speak or take a photo instead of filling in a form. To do that, content you save is sent from our servers to Google (Gemini API):
- Voice notes are transcribed, and the transcript is read to work out what kind of record it is, for example a weight, a vaccine or a symptom.
- Typed notes are read in the same way so they are filed under the right heading.
- Photos are described in a short line so you can find them later. When you add a pet, the photo you choose is also used to suggest a species, breed and coat colour, which you can change.
Short videos are stored so you can watch them again. They are not sent to AI.
Only with your agreement
Petlore asks before anything is sent to AI, the first time you open it. Nothing is sent until you agree, and you can change your answer at any time in the Me tab under AI filing.
If you decline or turn it off, Petlore still keeps your typed notes, photos and videos. It does not transcribe voice notes, sort notes into records, describe photos or suggest a breed. Turning it off stops new content being sent; it does not undo what was already filed.
Content is sent to Google only to produce your result. Under the terms of the paid API tier that Petlore uses, it is not used to train or improve Google’s models. We do not use your records to train AI models of our own.
AI makes mistakes. A record filed by Petlore can be wrong or incomplete, so check anything that matters, such as a dose or a date. Nothing Petlore writes is veterinary advice.
Where it is stored
Your account, your pets’ profiles and the text of your records are kept in our database. Voice recordings, photos and videos are kept in cloud object storage so you can play and view them again. The data is held on our cloud providers’ servers, not in your iCloud account, and travels between the app and our servers over an encrypted connection.
The app keeps a copy of some information on your phone, such as your list of pets and your sign-in, so it opens quickly. Signing out removes it from the device.
The services we work with
These companies process data for us so that Petlore can work:
- Google (Gemini API): transcription and understanding of voice notes, typed notes and photos.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, subscriptions and in-app purchases, and delivery of notifications.
- Google: Sign in with Google, if you choose it.
- Cloud hosting and storage providers: the servers, database and object storage that hold your data.
- An email delivery provider: sends the verification and password reset codes you ask for.
Petlore has no advertising software and no third-party tracking of you across other apps or websites.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your records stay until you delete them. Deleting a record removes it together with its photo, video or voice recording.
Delete your account in the app
Open the Me tab and choose Delete account.
- Your account is set to be deleted and you have 30 days to change your mind.
- Sign in again within those 30 days and choose to keep your account, and everything is as you left it.
- After 30 days your account, your pets’ profiles, every record with its photos, videos and voice recordings, and your reminder settings are permanently deleted and cannot be brought back.
You can start this yourself in Petlore. You do not need to write to us.
Deleting your account does not cancel Petlore Pro. Apple bills the subscription, so cancel it in your Apple Account settings as well. Records of subscription transactions may be kept for longer where tax or accounting law requires it.
Your choices
- See and correct: everything you have recorded is visible in the app, and you can edit or delete each record and each pet’s profile.
- Permissions: you can turn the camera, microphone, photos and notifications on or off for Petlore in your phone’s Settings at any time. Petlore still works with typed notes if you refuse them.
- AI filing: switch it on or off in the Me tab under AI filing.
- Reminders: switch them off in the Me tab under Reminders.
- A copy of your data, or anything else: write to us at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights over your personal information, including the right to object to how it is used or to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Petlore is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Petlore handles your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also give notice in the app or by email.
Privacy questions
For questions about this policy or your data, write to pet@getdaylore.com. For help with the app, see Petlore Support.
